It is the role of Test Management to ensure that new or modified service products meet the
business requirements for which they have been developed or enhanced.
Test Management is the practice of organizing and controlling the process and artifacts
required for the testing effort. The general goal of Test Management is to allow teams to plan,
develop, execute, and assess all testing activities within the overall software development effort.
Good Test Management brings communication, organization, documentation,
and structure to the application testing processes. It allows the deployment of
high-quality applications quickly and effectively by providing a consistent, repeatable process.
A Test Management tool is software used by Quality Assurance teams to manage tests
(automatic or manual) that have been previously specified. Good Test Management tools
cover the whole software development life-cycle (SDLC) from requirements planning up to
the management of defects and issues. They do also provide sensitive reports and metrics.
Pepgo Testing recommends Test Management with HP TestDirector for QualityCenter.
HP TestDirector for QualityCenter is a Test Management tool that provides a seamless, repeatable process
and support for gathering requirements, planning and scheduling tests, analyzing results,

There are many open source Test Management alternatives to HP TestDirector for QualityCenter,
but in our opinion, none of these open source tools are so seamlessly integrated across
the whole testing process as HP TestDirector for QualityCenter. HP TestDirector for QualityCenter
can also effortlessly integrate automated functional and performance tests. The workflow
and customization possibilities (API's) allow HP TestDirector for QualityCenter to adapt
to customer specific requirements. Most other Test Management tools manage only specific parts of the
software development life-cycle (SDLC), such as requirement management, or defect tracking.
They often also lack customization as well as reporting and metrics capabilities.
